Where Is Las Glorias, Sinaloa, Mexico?

Maps-of-Mexico.com

Las Glorias, Sinaloa, Mexico is located about 500 miles due south of Nogales, Arizona, on scenic Mexico Highway 15. Since we are within the tropical zones, our climate is very mild. We basically have 2 seasons: wet and warm, dry and warm. Temperatures during the winter (the dry and warm season) range from 50 degrees to 80 degrees Farenheit (10-25 degrees Celcius). Absolutely beautiful -- about 8 months of the year. During the summer, the daytime temperature can easily reach 100 F (38 Celcius), but since this is also the wet season, the humidity hovers at about 80-90%, which makes it feel like the temperature is closer to 120F. At night, it cools off to a balmy 90 degrees. Pretty hot and sticky. Generally, though, the climate is very agreeable, and abrupt temperature changes don't happen. Warm in the winter; hot in the summer.

The main industries in our part of Mexico are fishing and agriculture. There is a large shrimp farm less than a mile from our house, and usually seafood is abundant and cheap. Corn is the main crop inland, but also grown are pineapples, tomatoes, beans, peppers, citrus fruits, lichis, mangoes and potatoes. Guasave, our municipio (similar to a county), is an agricultural hub. Migrant workers come from all over Mexico during harvest season to work in the fields. Tourism is beginning to become more prominent, but our colonia (a small village with only a few residents) still has the "small town" feel, and the tourists are usually only passing through en route to Mazatlan or other, more "touristy" destinations south.

Thanks for stopping by my blog...I love reading about your adventures in Mexico...esp the rattlesnake escapade! My daughter is the missionary in our family...15 years old and has been on 4 trips...3 of those to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She's yet to go on an overseas trip, but that is her desire and passion...I'm sure God will bless her in that when the time is right. God bless you and your family for your sacrifice.

Rebecca,

Rachel's daughter-in-law from Sacramento here! We have been really enjoying your newsletter! The boys are fascinated with the fact that your boys get to shoot snakes :)

Keep up the writing! This blog is lots of fun to read! Your photos make one feel they are looking through a window into your world.

May God continue to bless you richly! I'm sure hoping our family can come visit you all sometime in the future.

Deborah

I LOVE your blog, simplicity and all. I too am a 'simple' blogger. One due to technolgical ignorance, and two, because I really do like things 'simple.' :)

This blog party is fun! I found yours due to the party. I plan to stay connected to yours as well. It is 'worthy' reading. :) Your life is amazing!

God bless!!!

I know what you mean, Jessie! We ended up here after a short-term mission trip about 5 years ago. Our whole family had that feeling of "unsettledness" when we got home, and it just wouldn't go away. Of course there were other things that led us here, but that was our first hunch that God was speaking to us in a BIG way!

How interesting to be a missionary in Mexico. I've never been to Mexico but it's not easy to live in another country. God bless you and your family. Sounds like you are having a good time doing God's work. Blogging is a great way to show others what God is doing in our lives.

Hola, Mi nombre est Sombra, no habla Espanole. Habla Inglais, Habla Franco (?), Habla Hebrew unpoquito.

I've been to Miami, where I learned the little bit of Spanish I know, but never been to Mexico. Hope your area is safe. May our Abba Father keep you and your loved ones - and the ones to whom you minister - safe from the dangers we hear about here up north. Sombra

Oh man-I misread where you were and thought it said, New Mexico, silly me. My daughter just came back at the end of July from Oaxaca. She really enjoyed her stay there. She went for language immersion/college credit/to speak Spanish more fluently.
Talk about a great learning experience for your kiddies (and you and the hubby), not to mention how you are helping further God's word! Will keep you in our prayers! Just not those pythons. :-)

This was very interesting to read where in Mexico you are at and what the climate is like. I am sure it must have taken a little while to get used to!

What a wonderful ministry you and your family are a part of. God bless you as you serve Him and may He be glorified! :)

God bless you,

Thanks for posting this.
Now that my blog has a live traffic feed on it we look to see who is on, where their from. Then we will google it & see what it looks like where they are from. And note whether they live in the U.S. or somewhere else. Fun Homeschooling!!

Wow, I have spent an very enjoyable hour reading your blogs.
I found you off of Coffeegirl Confessions.
We are missionaies on the Baja of Mexico. Last winter, we spent six months down here, and God totally changed the direction of our family. We went back to Canada and sold our house, packed up and moved down. It is nice to know that God does that to other people also. I'll be in touch. I am such a gringo!
God Bless!
